I have arrived in Sunny Celebration, Florida. I traveled here with Amanda Gulley and Vanessa Sprague. The weather today was fabulous, sunny and 72! It sure beats the snow storms that everyone is experiencing back home in Ohio. We drove half way on Thursday, stayed at Vanessa’s uncles house in South Carolina and then drove the rest of the way on Friday. We enjoyed driving towards the nice weather and had fun taking pictures of all of the palm trees that we drove past! We quickly noticed that Celebration is an incredibly welcoming town. It is so nice, and everyone we met was so nice and welcoming. We had a welcome dinner at the Ganley’s house for all of the past and current AU interns and their host families. It was fantastic, and it was a great way to meet everyone that is down here.
I am loving living here so far! There is so much to do and the weather is fantastic. At first I was quite nervous to walk up to the door of my host families house, but my host dad and “sister”, Ali greeted me and was extremely welcoming. I have three host “siblings” Ali, Marilyn, and Stephen. Ali is the daughter of my host mom and dad. She is a dancer just like me! Marilyn and Stephen are both living with my host family and they are completing internships in the area. Today was such a great first day in Celebration, and I can’t wait to see what comes next!
